About The Event
Come join us in Budapest for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering May 3 - 9, 2025. We will hold Worldschool Prom 2025 on May 9, 2025!Â
The Worldschool Pop-Up Hub provides super casual, budget-friendly opportunities to gather, connect with other worldschoolers, learn about the local area, instill new friendships, share your insights, and immerse in a friendly, accepting mobile community. Our activities highlight local nature, history, food, and culture... but you'll also have plenty of time to relax, get to know each other, and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group's interests.
Pop in for a few days or the full week. Join as many activities as you'd like. It's up to you!
Though this event will run as a typical pop-up, we want the main focus to be on the teens getting to know one another before prom night. We anticipate a large crowd and will split into smaller groups as necessary for visiting points of interest.
Our itinerary will include activities such as the following:
*City Park
*Children’s Railway (Gyermekvasút) has several nature walk stops along the way (also in the Guinness Book of World Records)
*Castle Hill Neighborhood - UNESCO World Heritage Site
*Hungarian Railway Museum - Europe’s Largest Open Air Railway Entertainment Park
*Central Market Hall Nagy Vásárcsarnok
*Trying Hungarian Foods like Goulash, Langos, Palacsinta, & Chicken Paprikash
*Aquincum - Roman Ruins and Museum - UNESCO World Heritage Site
*Walks along the Danube
*Views from the Towers at Fisherman’s Bastion
*Worldschool Prom 2025!!
Add-on options will include a Hungarian dance show, thermal baths, Danube River cruise, and more!

MEET YOUR HOST:
Rachel & family sold everything in 2014 and never have looked back. We've been completely nomadic since 2018, homeschooling our three children. Some of our favorite family travel destinations include Turkey, Romania, New Zealand, Spain, Uzbekistan and London. Our two younger kids will join the Pop-Up and will be 15 and 18 years old.
We run the Worldschool Pop-Up Hub and love the people we get to meet from this venture. So far, we've personally hosted or co-hosted more than 30 events and have attended a handful more. Can't wait to invite you into our mobile communities.
LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS & TRANSPORT:
District V and District I are close to most of our plans. District VI and VII will also be convenient. Â Google Maps is helpful for identifying district boundaries. You can also use this link: https://misstourist.com/where-to-stay-in-budapest-hungary-best-hotels/. The host family will stay between District V and District VII.
Budapest has a great public transportation system. Keep in mind that Budapest is a popular tourist city, so wherever you are, you will have to watch out for pickpocketing and petty theft. Luckily, there are no real dangerous areas in Budapest. The only part we’d recommend taking a bit of caution is District VIII – especially at night. Also, Districts VII and IX can be a bit sketchy, too, so make sure to keep your eyes open. From https://www.thebrokebackpacker.com/is-budapest-safe/
