MEET YOUR HOST:
We are an Australian family: Roxanne (born in Ukraine) and Nikita (13). Sydney is our home base for the last 13 years, and we are filmmakers, musicians, performers, animal rights advocates, content creators, and explorers. Nikita, his older sister (27) and I have traveled in Australia, Mexico, USA, Canada, Guatemala, and Fiji. Nikita and I lived in Mexico for the last seven months and explored it deeply.
We have a very wide range of interests from exploring nature & cultures to filming documentaries to standing strong against injustices. We know Australia quite well as we traveled here a lot. During the pandemic restrictions we were locked in Sydney and had a lot of time to explore each and every corner around the city. We can guarantee you a unique pop-up full of discoveries, adventures, and fun for everyone.
Our award-winning documentaries are available on our YouTube channel, Golden Salamander Talks. Plus, Nikita runs his own YouTube channel, Nikita Phoenix Drone Pilot.
LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS:
Most of our activities will take place in Sydney City Center or Sydney South. Sydney South is affordable and takes ~25 / 30 minutes by train to get into the city if you are located near a train station. Look for accommodation on the Blue Illawarra line such as Arncliffe- Rockdale- Kogarah- Carlton- Allawah- Hurstville stations or closer to the city center. Newtown is another option, a fun hippie town with its own train station. Being located near a train station is highly recommended as city parking is very expensive and buses are lovely but quite slow.
We recommend against staying in Western Sydney or Northern Sydney. The exception is if you're in a campervan, Lane Cove National Park is beautiful and quintessentially Australian (public transport options or short drive into downtown). The host family is staying in Sydney South, near the train station Kogarah. Roxanne is available to give advice before you book.Â
