Veracruz, Mexico | March 2023 (post-summit week)

Come join us in Veracruz, Mexico for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering March 13 - 19, 2023, conveniently scheduled after the Project World School Family Summit. We have a second pop-up for pre-summit participants as well, you're welcome to purchase tickets to both gatherings (the itineraries will be similar but not identical, they both offer a unique experience of Veracruz).

Our pop-ups provide a super casual, budget-friendly opportunity to gather, connect with other worldschoolers, learn about the local area, instill new friendships, share your insights, and immerse in a friendly, accepting mobile community.

We've cherry-picked the best low- or no-cost activities that highlight local nature, arts, history, food, and culture... but you'll also have plenty of time to relax, get to know each other, and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group's interests (we provide supplemental ideas to tailor your experience).

Pop in for a few days or the full week. Join as many activities as you'd like. It's up to you! We would love to have you come and simply hang out with like-minded families while we dive in and explore the local offerings.

Our itinerary will include activities such as the following:

*Strolling/biking the oceanside boardwalk of Malecón de Veracruz 

*Hanging at the Plaza Zócalo de Veracruz

*Checking out local Danzón music/dancing at Palacio Municipal 

*Sampling the famous lechero at Cafe de la Parroquia

*Exploring shops and restaurants at Los Portales de Veracruz

*Browsing the crafts at Mercado Miguel Alemán Valdés

*Bird watching at Mirador Foro Boca

*Visiting local museums such as Museo de Cera (wax figures), Museo de la Ciudad, and Museo Naval México

*Exploring the San Juan de Ulúa ruins

*Playing at Parque Jardin de Olmos

*Wildlife spotting Reserva Natural Estatal Arroyo Moreno

*And plenty of beach time at Playas Martí & Villa Del Mar & Mocambo

Add-on options include Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, aquarium Acuario de Veracruz with dolphin shows, or a day trip to see the ruins at Quiahuiztlan and Cempoala, river rafting at Jalcomulco, Isla de Enmedio, the UNESCO Heratige site of Tlacotalpan, and more.

MEET YOUR HOST:

We are Sarah, Massimiliano, and our 3 kids Cosimo 14, Emma 12, and Luca 7. Our family is originally from Florence, Italy but lived in the USA for 8 years. In 2018 we sold everything to travel the world and have visited over 40 countries up to now. What started as a gap year is now our lifestyle!

We love to meet like-minded families and share time and travel stories, so this pop up is the perfect environment to do this. We are thrilled to have a chance to host it and are looking forward to meeting you!

LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS:

We recommend staying somewhere in the Centro Histórico if you’d like to be in proximity to most of the activities, restaurants, and attractions. For families who plan to stay at the waterpark, Aquatico Inbursa, that’s also fine as Veracruz is well connected with taxis and public transport.
